Due on Blu: February

Fringe’s second season on Blu-ray may have been postponed from next month but fans of another freaky creatures hour, Being Human, can look forward to the first two series being released simultaneously on the format.

That’s a big bonus if you’ve only seen the BBC HD hit on Prime, where it airs in SD.

The February 9 release coincides with the Bafta-winner starting its third season this week in the UK.

Other TV-on-Blu-ray releases lined up for next month include America: The Story of Us and further seasons of The Universe (three) and Life After People (two) – all due on February 4, two days after Top Gear specials, Apocalypse and Clarkson: The Italian Job.

Out on February 7 is the Blu-ray of season one of the original Twilight Zone, with season two to follow April/May.

Blu-ray movie releases will include: The Other Guys, Frozen and Legend of the Guardian: The Owls of Ga’Hoole on February 2; Dinner for Schmucks, Eat Pray Love and Going the Distance on February 9; Lymelife on February 10; and Four Lions and Paranormal Activity on February 23.

On the back-catalogue front, watch for Fantasia 2000: Special Edition and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) on February 2, The Crow on February 9, and Taras Bulba and The Bedsitting Room on February 21.

There also will be two Blu-ray 3D releases – Legend of the Guardian and, on February 16, The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Film – and on February 10, Cliff Richard: Bold as Brass – Live in London 2010 and Eureka Seven Movie: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers.
