Sharknado Hooks Creature Feature Feast

Sharknado isn’t the only creature feature treat that will make a splash on Blu-ray in October.

Distributor Vendetta Films also has rounded up vampire thriller Byzantium, which is screening in cinemas, the extraordinarily entertaining Slither, which Castle’s Nathan Fillion starred in after Firefly, and, in 3D, The Crocodile, a 2012 Croczilla release from China.

Other Blu-ray horrors for that month include the re-issue of Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left and the direct-to-disc Rancid while doomed to DVD-only are It Came From Outer Space, It Came From Outer Space II and Peter Benchley’s The Beast.

Another indie label, Shock Entertainment, also abounds in shclock horror Blu-rays in October with its next batch of Hammer Horror hoots.

Whatever you think of their quality, the Hammer movies have been exquisitely restored on Blu-ray with scholarly extras.

October’s stable comprises Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell, Frankenstein Created Woman and the double-bill, The Quaterman Xperiment & Quatermass 2.

  1. Some collectible golden oldies there, here’s hoping they are priced accordingly.
