Get Some HD Satisfaction

Sky Arena will broadcast free to all domestic subscribers, and in HD to those with HD Tickets, The Rolling Stones Sweet Summer Tour — Hyde Park 2013.

This two hour special charts the Rolling Stones’ historic and triumphant return to London’s Hyde Park in 2013 and will screen from 2.30pm on Saturday.

Fans can expect to see the band perform 50 years’ of their greatest hits like Start Me UpBrown SugarJumpin’ Jack FlashIt’s Only Rock ‘N’ RollGimme Shelter and Sympathy For The Devil.

The Rolling Stones’ return to Hyde Park came almost 44 years to the day after their legendary free concert in July 1969 and included a special appearance by former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor.

Airing on Sky channel 065 and 066 (HD), it will replay every two hours until 2.30am Sunday (4.30pm, 6.30pm, 8.30pm, 10.30pm on Saturday, with the final screening at 12.30am on Sunday).

Sky says the HD broadcast can be viewed by customers with My Sky HDi or My Sky+ and the HD Access Ticket.; the HD broadcast will be in 5.1 audio (surround sound).

“It was a great gig,” Mick Jagger said of the show on the band’s website.  

“It was beautiful with the sun going down over Hyde Park.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Rolling Stones’ 50 than doing it on our home patch in front of 100,000 people on a glorious summer night … enjoy it … we certainly did.”

Said Film Racket: “Sweet Summer Sun: Hyde Park Live doesn’t try to explain the band or tell us anything we don’t already know about them.

“It just allows us to admire one of the world’s best rock-and-roll bands, rocking every bit as hard now as they did 44 years ago.”

In a press release, Sky says the Arena team are huge fans of The Rolling Stones, “and when they heard of the postponement of their NZ tour, pulled out all the stops to arrange this very special screening.”
