Happy Belated Birthday Tribute to Attenborough

Prime will belatedly mark Sir David Attenborough’s birthday with an Our Planet special on November 13.

Attenborough at 90, which interviews the naturalist on the eve of his 90 birthday, aired six months ago in the UK and will screen here a week after the BBC premieres Planet Earth II.

Filmed in front of an audience, it includes extensive archival footage of some of the most unforgettable moments of his career and reveals the story behind each moment and what happened after the cameras stopped rolling.

“From his friendship with gorillas, to becoming a real-life Doctor Dolittle when he spoke to a blind rhinoceros, [the] programme reflected on just a few of the star’s most magical moments,” the Express reports.

“Even his royal highness Prince William was on hand to pay tribute: ‘It’s very fitting that he’s having his 90th birthday only a few weeks after the Queen. I think they’re two national treasures who have done so much for everybody over the years.'”

Attenborough’s appeared on TV for more than 60 years, but there’s still lots to learn about the much-loved naturalist, says This Week, citing “six things you didn’t know”.

And as part of its contribution to Attenborough’s legacy, The Guardian invited wildlife television producer Stephen Moss to choose “his top 10 TV moments featuring the great man”.
