HD Heads-Up: April 5-11

With the new seasons bedded in, none of the networks has anything new of note to report for the week starting April 5.

Further out, CSI fans later in April can look forward to a double-episode crossover with its NY spin-off that will air as two episodes back-to-back on a Saturday night.

It opens with an episode of CSI from the previous season (13th), In Vino Veritas, and concludes in an episode of CSI: NY from its ninth and final season (Seth and Apep).

Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries’ Matthew Davis guest stars in the April 10 episode of CSI while “returning” to Hawaii Five-O on April 6 is Star Trek’s George Takei.

His guest stint comes 37 years after he played a gang lord’s doppelganger in the original H5O.

Guesting on Friday’s Graham Norton Show are Matt Damon, Bill Murray and Hugh Bonneville while the episode of The Simpsons screening that night is dedicated to Marcia Wallace, who voiced Edna Krabappel for 25 years and died a week before it aired in the US.

Hence, a last-minute change to Bart’s blackboard scribblings: “We’ll really miss you, Mrs. K.”

Friday also will see TV2 premiere in HD the latest Spider-Man movie, pre-empting re-runs of The Middle and The Big Bang Theory.

Other HD movies scheduled for the week starting April 5 include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (TV2, 7.00 Saturday), The Secret Life Of Bees (TV3, 10.25 Saturday), The Son of No One (TV2, 11.30 Saturday), Flightplan (TV2, 1.20am Sunday), Yogi Bear (TV2, 6.55 Sunday) and The Stepfather (TV2, 10.30 Sunday).

Thursday’s Supersize documentary, I Lost Weight But Lost My Husband! (TV3, 9.30), asks if losing weight will lead to happiness.

And ending their runs are Monday’s The GC (TV3, 8.00) and Thursday’s Cadbury Dream Factory (TV3, 7.30) while back for new episodes on Wednesday is Rapid Response (TV One, 7.30).
