Big tick for X Factor OzChicago Med scrubs up … Wick-ed movie slot …

TV3 will screen The X Factor Australia the same week as the Seven network, triple-billing the first three episodes as a Saturday night special on October 8. Season seven goes to air in Australia on October 3, with what Seven says will be “a complete reimagining of the world’s most successful talent competition”. This follows ratings for season six that were so poor Seven apparently considered delaying the show’s return until next year and led to a major shake-up of the judging panel …

TV3 will premiere another Australian series, Brock, at 8.35 on October 10. The two-part miniseries stars Offspring’s Matt Le Nevez as racing car driver Peter Brock and will screen here within two days of its launch on Network Ten …

The same week TV3 will premiere season two of Chicago Med, which will continue in its 8.30 Wednesday slot. The series resumed last week in the US with new faces, including Elementary‘s Ato Essandoh and 90210‘s Mekia Cox, and more emphasis on what happens inside the hospital. “We discovered it didn’t work so well for our show to spend a lot of time out of the hospital on personal stories,” co-showrunner Diane Frolov told The Hollywood Reporter. “It didn’t seem to fit our rhythm” …

Fans of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show will be disappointed to learn it’s being dumped yet again. TV3 brought it back last Sunday at 9.30 but after after this weekend’s broadcast will replace it with Best of the Graham Norton Show compilations. Expect MMBS to resurface late-night, probably as the successor to Live From the BBC

Sam Neill is among the guests who will appear on October 14’s Graham Norton Show, along with Danny DeVito, Miranda Hart, John Bishop and Amber Riley …

TV2 will screen the network movie premiere of John Wick just after midnight on October 9, at 12.15am. Other coming attractions in HD that week include: The Pirates! Band of Misfits (TV2, 5.15 Saturday)The Muppets (TV2, 7.00 Saturday), Last Night (TV2, 2.10am Sunday), Secrets in the Walls (TV3, 10.30 Sunday), Insidious: Chapter 2 (TV2, 11.25 Sunday) and Fantastic Four (Prime, 8.35 Thursday) …

  1. I hope X Factor NZ will be back next year 🙂

  2. HEY, I see TVNZ have stolen The Blacklist off TV3, there should be an inquiry 🙁

  3. It’s not The Blacklist, Trevor, but the spin-off, Redemption. And given how TV3 has botched its scheduling of the original, could TVNZ do a worse job if it had the rights?

  4. OOPS, put the enquiry on hold. You make a good point, Philip, hopefully they will wake up and realise how poorly they are treating The Blacklist … C’mon TV3 WAKE UP!!!! 🙂

  5. Hi Philip, apologies if I have missed a previous update, but is there any word on when Season 2 of American Crime will air on TV One?

  6. Hi Aiden. All you’ve missed is ill-informed speculation. I thought TV One would have run it back to back with the late-night Friday season one re-runs but that didn’t pan out. However, it looks, and I have to stress this is tentative only, as though it will premiere late-night Monday once the Criminal Minds repeats have ended. So fingers crossed (again!) for early November.

  7. Many thanks Philip.
