HD Highlights: September 4

Series Premiere: Tricky Business (TV3, 8.30) Mercantile agents Kate and Rick have everything ahead of them, until Rick makes an ill-advised business decision that traps them deep in debt and means they have to sell up and move in with her parents. Don’t mistake this Aussie, cross-generational family drama for another Packed to the Rafters clone (complete with another Kiwi co-star, Outrageous Fortune’s Antony Starr). The Sydney Morning Herald called it “familiar enough to not frighten the horses and different enough to set it apart from the standard repertoire of dramas set in cop shops, hospital wards or legal practices … While it certainly doesn’t reinvent the wheel, the confluence of good casting and an apparent commitment to avoid some clunky representations of the TV family also make for a welcome break.” ✭✭✭✭

❑ Coastwatch (TV One, 7.30) Fisheries officers in Christchurch crack down on illegal fishing; a cliff fall leads to a frantic search for the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter; and a yacht crash in Auckland Harbour ends in disaster. ✭✭✭

Kings Cross ER (TV3, 8.00, F) Season finale: A man falls off his bike and collapses into the arms of a doctor who performs life-saving CPR. ✭✭✭

❑ Southland (TV One, 11.05, 5.1) Sammy and Nate feel threatened when Sal calls in Lydia and Josie to help solve a series of gang murders. ✭✭✭✭✩

  1. Having watched the first episode of Tricky Business I actually found it highly enjoyable … just hope it rates well enough so TV3 does not take it off, also looks great in HD 🙂
