HD Ratings: 3rd Degree Gets Anzac Day Vote

TV3 has scheduled an extra repeat of its low-rating 3rd Degree spin-off, The Vote, for Anzac Day.

It will screen less than 24 hours after its 8.30 Wednesday broadcast, at 10.55am on April 25, as well as in 3rd Degree’s Saturday morning repeat slot of 11am on April 27.

TV3 won’t release details of the next HD debate until later in the week but chances are it will have a defence theme.

In any event, the network will be hoping for a bigger viewer turn-out than for the first gabfest about taxing unhealthy food.

This week’s 3rd Degree was scarcely a vote of confidence in the show’s future, with its ratings dipping below 5% in all of the key demos for the first time outside of the first edition of The Vote.

It averaged only 2.9% – 4.4%, compared to lead-out Sons of Anarchy’s 4.3% – 7.5% and lead-in World’s Deadliest Roads’ 4.7% – 7.5%.

The current affairs show already faced tough competition from TV2’s HD sitcoms: Wednesday’s The Big Bang Theory averaged 17.6% – 22.3% and 2 Broke Girls, 12.5% – 16.9%.

But TV One’s upped the ante by replacing the under-performing Aussie HD drama Winners and Losers with the more popular 24 Hours in A&E, which averaged 4.9% – 7.8%.

Wednesday also was notable for the return of TV2’s Revolution in a new, late-night slot, where, predictably, it could muster only 2.0% – 4.0%.

On Thursday, Once Upon a Time (6.1% – 7.6%) narrowly out-rated Bones (5.2% – 7.4%) while on Tuesday, Revenge (7.4% – 9.8%) beat both Attenborough – 60 Years in the Wild (4.4% – 8.1%) and NCIS (6.1% – 7.8%).

NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 4.3% – 6.1%, to win the 9.30 hour with adults 25-54 and 18-49 while earlier in the evening Go On (5.7% – 7.2%) has started to out-rate lead-in Modern Family (4.8% – 6.1%) — but both still average only about a third of My Kitchen Rules’ viewership.

  1. This show is an embarrassment to Garner & Espiner – repeating it won’t make it any better.
