HD Ratings: Hello? Adele Encore, TV3?

Adele Live in London livened up TV3’s ratings on Wednesday, winning its time slot in all the core commercial demographics.

It averaged 5.1% – 8.0% off the back of The X Factor UK’s 2.5% – 3.9% and opposite TV2’s Mom (5.1% – 7.0%) and The Day I Almost Died (3.6% – 4.9%).

Against tougher competition, the latter was down sharply on the previous week’s 5.5% – 6.5% and didn’t rate much higher than the series it abruptly replaced, The Flash.

But it left in its wake TV1’s The Island With Bear Grylls (2.4% – 4.7%).

TV2 dominated the rest of the night with Shortland Street (9.6% – 14.5%),  The Middle (8.3% – 13.7%) and double-ep re-runs of The Big Bang Theory.

TV1’s MasterChef Australia (4.5% – 5.7%) finished second at 7.30, well ahead of X Factor UK.

TV2 also ruled Tuesday with a big jump in viewership of My Kitchen Rules NZ (6.4% – 11.1%) in its first Block NZ-free zone.

Even more popular was lead-out, World’s Fattest Man: A Love Story (9.0% – 15.7%), ahead of the season finale of Empire (5.1% – 8.9%).

TV3’s NCIS (4.1% – 5.8%) finished second at 8.30, as did SVU (2.1% – 3.9%) at 9.30 (except in the household shopper demo, which opted for the penultimate episode of TV1’s Battle Creek).

On Monday, TV3’s The Block NZ: Villa Wars Unlocked (6.3% – 8.8%) won at 7.30 against a competitive MKRNZ (6.1% – 7.0%) — as was TV1’s Border Security International in the 25-54 demo.

But TV2’s repeat of the movie Grown Ups (6.0% – 7.7%) topped TV1’s crime dramas and TV3’s reality/current affairs block while another TV2 Adam Sandler re-run, The Longest Yard (5.5% – 7.6%), outdistanced the competition on Sunday.

But only after TV3’s final of The Block NZ  hammered its rivals, averaging 10.9% – 14.3% to win its slot and help lead-out Kevin McCloud’s Escape to the Wild (3.3% – 8.1%) to win in the 25-54 and HHS demos.
