HD Ratings: Anarchists Hobble Hostages

TV3’s Sons of Anarchy roared back in the ratings on Wednesday while TV One’s new drama Hostages failed to hold viewers captive.

The bikie drama averaged 3.7% – 7.9% of the key demographics – adults 18-39, 18-49, 25-54 and household shoppers with kids – to win the 9.30 hour.

That was on the back of the middling premiere of Hustling America, which averaged 4.4% – 5.5% and was largely beaten by TV2’s movie Big Daddy (5.7% – 9.0%).

However, the big loser of the night was TV One’s movie-length launch of Hostages.

It averaged 1.7% – 4.4%, and was most popular with the network’s target 25-54 audience.

Lead-in Meet the Frockers rated above average (4.9% – 6.5%) because of a stronger 7.30 option: the season premiere of The Inspectors averaged 4.8% – 8.4% and among HHS challenged the 7.30 dominance of The Block: All Stars (7.8% – 10.5%).

TV2’s Tabatha Takes Over could muster only 3.1% – 4.6% at 9.30.

TV3 also rated strongly on Tuesday, with its line-up of The Block (8.4% – 11.6%), NCIS (5.4% – 8.6%) and NCIS: Los Angeles (3.9% – 6.1%).

TV2’s re-run of Rush Hour averaged 4.5% – 5.8%, and was competitive in the 18-39 and HHS demos.

TV One’s Surveillance Oz drew 4.1% – 8.2% but lead-out Australia’s Deadliest gave up these gains (3.1% – 6.0%) and Kangaroo Dundee rated below 3.0% in all the key demos except HHS (4.5%).
