HD Ratings: Bang Up Night for TV2 Even Without Big Bang

TV2 had another top-rating night on Wednesday, even though it was missing one of its key planks, The Big Bang Theory.

An extra-long My Kitchen Rules pre-empted the comedy this week but helped to deliver the network an even bigger bang for its buck.

MKR (left) averaged 13.3% – 17.1% of the key demos over 90 minutes, on the back of Shortland Street’s 13.5% – 17.8% and ahead of 2 Broke Girls’ 8.3% – 10.5%.

This bumper lead-in helped Once Upon a Time (5.2% – 8.0%) to win the 9.30 hour in every key demo except 25-54 year-olds and against tougher competition on TV3: the SD premiere of Criminals Caught on Camera (5.0% – 6.3%).

Although TV One’s Nashville (2.2% – 4.4%) finished third for the hour, it was up significantly on previous weeks’ ratings.

TV One also scored strongly earlier, when Highway Cops averaged 7.8% – 11.5% and Fair Go 7.0% – 11.2% to beat TV3’s House Rules (4.5% – 10.1%).

Wednesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 6.9 rating/22.8 share; TV2, 10.0 rating/33.5 share; TV3, 5.4 rating/18.0 share
  • A18-39: TV One, 5.6 rating/20.0 share; TV2, 10.8 rating/38.6 share; TV3, 5.4 rating/19.4 share
  • A25-54: TV One, 8.1 rating/24.9 share; TV2, 9.8 rating/29.9 share; TV3, 6.0 rating/18.4 share
  • HHS/k: TV One, 8.8 rating/23.3 share; TV2, 12.3 rating/32.7 share; TV3, 9.6 rating/25.5 share.
