HD Ratings: Battle of the Beefcake and Cheesecake

Thursday’s beefcake-vs-cheesecake battle saw The Expendables and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider neck-and-neck in the ratings.

Expendables averaged 3.9% – 5.2% for TV2 and Lara Tomb 3.9% – 6.4% for TV3.

The former won outright with adults 25-54 while the latter was tops among household shoppers with kids.

But the first of TV1’s SD Miranda specials beat both in the 25-54 demographic and was ahead of Expendables among HHS/k.

Reflecting the low ratings overall, Shortland Street averaged only 7.2% – 11.3% and rated single digits in all the key demos except HHS/k.

Wednesday’s episode rated slightly better — 8.8% – 13.2% — ahead of Mike & Molly averaging 4.1% – 6.5% for its first half-hour and 3.6% – 5.6% for its second.

The sitcom largely finished third to TV1’s MasterChef Australia and/or TV3’s The Block: Glasshouse in most of the key demos but beat both in the HHS/k stakes.

TV2’s movie Hall Pass averaged 3.5% – 4.6% against Definitely Maybe’s 3.4% – 5.3% on TV3, with the latter being more popular in all the key demos except 25-54.

TV1’s SD premiere of The Island With Bear Grylls rated 2.9% – 4.7% ahead of its HD premiere of Hotel of Mum and Dad drawing only 1.7% – 2.7%.
