HD Ratings: Big Bang Theory Streets Ahead

TV2 was the big winner on Wednesday (again), increasing its ratings and shares week-on-week in all the major demographics while its HD rivals were up and down.

Its two-hour comedy block was unassailable, with 8.30 lynchpin The Big Bang Theory (above) steaming ahead to average a whopping 14.2% – 16.1%.

That made it the most-watched show of the night among adults 18-49 and 25-54.

Lead-out 2 Broke Girls couldn’t match these Shortland Street-like numbers but still rated a creditable 9.0% – 11.2%.

TBBT’s lead-in also was exceptionally strong, with Mom’s 10.9% – 14.1% and Two and a Half Men’s 10.5% – 13.3%.

Only at 9.30 did TV2 start to lose ground, when Once Upon a Time level-pegged with TV3’s Sons of Anarchy.

The fairy tale drama averaged 4.8% – 7.6% and narrowly won the 9.30 hour in three of the key demos but tied with the bikie drama (4.2% – 7.1%) among adults 25-54.

TV One’s Rapid Response at 7.30 eked out 5.6% – 7.9%.

That was well up on TV3’s Destroyed in Seconds (3.4% – 5.3%), which scarcely got Territory Cops (4.4% – 6.1%) off to a running start.

The domino effect was crippling on 3rd Degree (3.7% – 5.0%), although it was well ahead of TV One’s House Husbands (1.8% – 4.0%).

At 9.30, Hostages’ viewership hit a season low of 0.3% – 1.7%.

Wednesday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:
