HD Ratings: Black Night for Blacklist

TV3’s The Blacklist suffered a season low on Sunday, even though TV2’s Agents of SHIELD is no longer quite such a super ratings force.

The James Spader drama averaged only 3.1% – 4.6% of the major demographics and even was beaten by TV One’s Offspring (3.6% – 6.6%), helping TV One to top TV3 in all the Sunday peak-hour demos for the first time this season.

The previous week The Blacklist rated 5.5% – 7.0% to finish ahead of the Australian drama (3.7% – 6.8%)

The last time it rated nearly this low was the night of SHIELD’s premiere, when it averaged 3.9% – 5.9%.

SHIELD has been on a steadily slide since its launch, too.

While Sunday’s episode was 2-3 times as popular as the competition, its 7.4% – 11.5% average was down sharply on the premiere’s 9.7% – 15.5% and the second episode’s 9.6% – 13.8%.

However, it did improve slightly over last week’s season low of 6.8% – 11.2% and enjoyed channel shares of 20% – 30%.

Just as popular was TV2’s network movie premiere of Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil, which averaged 7.7% – 12.1% against MasterChef NZ’s 5.8% – 11.3% and The Great Food Race’s disastrous 2.9% – 3.4%.

TV2 also dominated the rest of the night with The Tomorrow People (5.4% – 7.1%) and Final Destination 3 (2.2% – 5.4%).

TV One’s 9.30 drama Betrayal (1.1% – 3.0%) vied with TV3’s Hawaii Five-O (1.7% – 1.9%) for the hour’s lowest viewership among the big three networks.

A drowning Five-O doomed lead-out House of Cards to only 0.0% – 0.4%.

Sunday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • Adults 18-49: TV One, 6.2 rating/19.8 share; TV2, 7.5 rating/24.1 share; TV3, 4.4 rating/14.2 share
  • Adults 18-39: TV One, 4.7 rating/17.4 share; TV2, 6.9 rating/25.3 share; TV3, 3.9 rating/14.4 share
  • Adults 25-54: TV One, 7.4 rating/21.4 share; TV2, 7.1 rating/20.5 share; TV3, 5.4 rating/15.6 share
  • HHS: TV One, 9.8 rating/27.8 share; TV2, 10.2 rating/29.1 share; TV3, 4.7 rating/13.4 share.

  1. I just hope that The Blacklist doesn’t get shuffled into the “will return later in the year” speak and is replaced with repeats of The Block or the like.

  2. Agreed. I think that this is an excellent show and that TV3 will screen the entire series now rather than take it off air part way through the series.

  3. Speaking of The Blacklist I got one of my tweets on Twitter favourited by Megan Boone 🙂
