HD Ratings: Black Night for Grey’s

Grey’s Anatomy hit a season and historic low on Monday when it averaged an anaemic 2.2% – 3.2% of the major demographics.

The ageing hospital soap was thrashed by TV3’s repeat of Fast Five (5.3% – 6.5%), which was most popular with TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds.

Moreover, Grey’s was less than a point ahead of TV One’s low-rating Intelligence (2.0% – 2.9%) in all the key demos.

Fast Five also challenged the supremacy of TV2’s Monday comedies, seesawing with both Trophy Wife (5.7% – 7.0%) and Hot in Cleveland (4.1% – 5.1%).

They collapsed TV2’s viewership on the back of another top-rating My Kitchen Rules (14.6% – 19.5%), which again out-rated lead-in Shortland Street.

MKR rival Border Security (5.3% – 7.0%) out-rated Road Cops (3.4% – 6.4%) at 7.30 while at 8.00 The Force (4.8% – 7.4%) was well ahead of Kings Cross ER (2.9% – 4.7%) except among household shoppers with kids.

TV One’s 8.30 drama, Person of Interest, finished third, with 3.9% – 5.1%.

Viewing across all three HD networks suffered because of the long weekend but TV2 took the biggest hit, with its ratings and channel shares dropping sharply week-on-week.

Monday’s peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:

  • A18-49: TV One, 5.5 rating/17.9 share; TV2, 8.3 rating/27.3 share; TV3, 5.8 rating/18.8 share
  • A18-39: TV One, 4.7 rating/15.1 share; TV2, 8.2 rating/26.6 share; TV3, 6.4 rating/20.9 share
  • A25-54: TV One, 6.7 rating/19.9 share; TV2, 8.8 rating/26.4 share; TV3, 6.2 rating/18.5 share
  • HHS/k: TV One, 6.3 rating/17.9 share; TV2, 10.5 rating/29.7 share; TV3, 8.0 rating/22.5 share.
