HD Ratings: Bones and Big Bang Bounce Back

The season eight-premiere of Bones started strongly for TV3 on Thursday, averaging 8.3% of its target audience, 25-54 year-olds, and 7.9% of household shoppers.

While it was soundly beaten by TV2’s Embarrassing Bodies, which averaged 9.1% – 12.9% of the key demographics, it was up on the previous week’s Hamish and Andy’s Caravan of Courage, and was well ahead of TV One’s Extraordinary Storm Chasers (2.7% – 4.3%).

The Big Bang Theory also buoyed TV2’s Wednesday night ratings, with the 8.30 re-run averaging 12.1% – 13.9% and the 9pm re-run, 11.5% – 14.8%, with both episodes winning their slots opposite’s TV One’s Alcatraz (1.1% – 4.0%) and TV3’s HD movie, Repo Men (5.9% – 7.8%).

Also back the same night was The Middle, which rated 10.3% – 11.3% to win its 7.30 slot, against The Block Australia’s 5.4% – 6.1%; at 9.30, Criminal Minds averaged 2.1% – 5.9%.

On Tuesday, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban dominated with 6.7% – 8.1% opposite NCIS’s 4.5% – 6.8% and NCIS: Los Angeles’ 4.2% – 6.4%.
