HD Ratings: Dynamo Dynamite, Modern Family Implodes

TV3’s HD sitcoms Modern Family and Go On gave up their gains of the last two weeks when TV One spellbound viewers with Tuesday’s premiere of Dynamo — Magician Impossible.

What sounds like a laundry detergent special cleaned up, averaging an extraordinarily high 10.1% – 16.2% of the major demographics.

Modern Family rated 5.3% – 6.9% and Go On 3.5% – 5.2% while TV2’s Big Bang Theory averaged 8.2% – 11.6% for the 7.30 re-run and 8.5% – 9.9% for the 8.00 repeat.

TV One’s other newcomer, Penguin – Spy in the Huddle, averaged 5.4% – 10.4% in an even contest with TV2’s Go Girls (7.2% – 9.6%) and TV3’s NCIS (5.8% – 7.8%).

The networks also were competitive at 9.30, when TV One’s A Double Life averaged 4.3% – 7.7%, TV2’s Revenge 5.3% – 8.9% and TV3’s NCIS: LA, 4.5% – 6.1%.

On Monday, The X Factor NZ averaged 9.2% – 15.3% to win the 8.00 hour with household shoppers and adults 25-54 while BBT averaged 10.3% – 14.7% and Grey’s Anatomy, which started midway through X Factor, 9.5% – 14.2%.

Criminal Minds dropped to 3.7% – 5.2% and while Castle improved slightly, to 2.6% – 5.4%, viewership was still less than half of TV2’s Wentworth.

At 10.30, TV2’s Shameless rated a respectable 2.8% – 4.7% and at 7.00 its hour-long episode of Shortland Street averaged 15.9% – 23.2%.
