HD Ratings: Super Fun Monday TV2’s Trophy Night

TV2’s new-look Monday, spearheaded by an hour-long episode of Shortland Street, helped the network to win the night in all the major demographics (adults 18-39, 18-49, 25-54, household shoppers with kids).

The numbers weren’t great for newcomers Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Walking Dead but good enough to withstand tough competition from TV3’s network movie premiere of Contraband.

But the days of The Following continuing in its 9.30 Monday slot must be numbered, after this week’s episode carved up only 1.0% – 2.6% of the key demos (only with TV One’s 25-54 target did it top 2.0%).

HD rival The Walking Dead returned with 4.6% – 6.0%. It easily won the slot with HHS but seesawed with Contraband for the 18-49 and 18-39 vote, and lost to it in the 25-54 demo.

Dead’s lead-in, the premiere of award-winning comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, didn’t live up to its hype, delivering only 4.0% – 5.2% of the key demos, being most popular with TV2’s core’s 18-39 audience.

It and lead-in Super Fun Night (4.4% – 5.1%) were out-rated by Contraband (4.8% – 6.2%) in the 25-54 and HHS stakes.

But the Shortland Street hour set TV2 up for the night, with 13.0% – 16.2%, with lead-out Trophy Wife scoring 5.5% – 7.4%.

TV3’s The Block: All Stars had another soft night (5.5% – 9.8%) but still was well ahead of TV One’s MasterChef NZ (4.2% – 5.1%).

Lead-out Person of Interest (3.1% – 5.5%) was competitive in all the key demos except 18-39.

The peak-hour HD channel ratings and shares were:
