HD Ratings: The Blue Rose Wilts

Spare some pity for network programmers.

A week after TV3 reversed its Blue Rose strategy, and reinstated weekly one-hour instalments on the back of improved audience share, the local drama last night took a ratings tumble.

It slipped from last week averaging 5.8% of adults 25-54, TV3’s target audience, to 3.7% — which meant its share of that audience watching TV at that hour fell from 19.6% to 15.4%.

Both the rating and share are higher than a few weeks ago but Rose still finished a distant third in the 9.30 slot, behind The Following, which averaged  a 5.4 rating/20.1 share of adults 25-54, and Kitchen Nightmares, which averaged a 6.3 rating/26.3 share.

In the other key demos, the South Pacific Pictures production could average only 1.4% – 2.6% compared to The Following’s 3.6% – 7.6% and Nightmares’ 4.8% – 7.4%.

Following lead-in Criminal Minds had its strongest night this season, averaging 7.8% – 12.5%, and drew more than 10% of every key demo except adults 18-39.

TV3’s HD reality duo bowed out on lower numbers than which it launched: Crime Exposed averaged 3.6% – 7.3% and Territory Cops 2.7% – 4.9%.
