HD Ratings: Viewers Wild About Westies

TV3’s Westside won the 8.30 hour on Sunday in all the commercial demographics.

The Outrageous Fortune spin-off averaged 6.8% – 8.0% of the key demos, and was most popular with 18-39 year-olds and households shoppers with kids.

TV1’s period drama rival Indian Summers continued to struggle, with only 2.7% – 4.5%, and was out-rated by lead-out Our Girl (2.5% – 4.7%) except in the 18-39 demo.

Our Girl also topped TV3’s 9.30 drama Rush (2.5% – 3.5%) but not TV2’s network movie premiere of 21 & Over (4.8% – 6.1%), which was more competitive off the back of Shark Tale’s 6.7% – 12.3%.

The latter dominated in the 18-39 and HHS/k demos, leaving Sunday to win the 25-54 vote from 7.00-8.00.

But Dancing With the Stars (6.8% – 8.8%) built strongly in its second half to challenge Sunday and crush its lead-out House Hunt (3.2% – 5.9%).

The outcome was an exceptionally strong Sunday for TV3, which won the 18-49 race and was competitive in the other key demos:

Sky’s Super Rugby coverage on Saturday was largely the winner on the night, although TV2’s re-run of Ocean’s Thirteen was the most popular post-9pm drawcard.

Friday’s Come Dine With Me NZ (4.3% – 5.3%) beat TV1’s Seven Sharp in the 18-39 and 18-49 stakes while TV3’s light-ent line-up dominated in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos but lost to TV2’s comedies and Conan the Barbarian re-run among HHS/k.

TV2 was untouchable in the key demos on both Wednesday and Thursday, proving vulnerable only post-9.30 Wednesday when the second half of TV3’s re-run of Taken out-rated Once Upon a Time.
