HD Ratings: X & A Games Tops for 3

TV3 rolled out its A-team to win the ratings on Sunday.

The X Factor NZ the 7.00 hour outright in all the key demographics while its lead-out, a re-run of The A-Team, was tops with adults 18-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

The talent quest averaged 12.2% – 15.3% and the movie, 8.4% – 10.9%.

It was the second consecutive week in which TV3 won the movie slot with action fare instead of the lame comedies it was previously teaming with X Factor NZ.

The A-Team’s HD rival, a repeat of Valentine’s Day on TV2, averaged 6.0% – 10.3% and wn its slot with household shoppers.

The night’s other 8.30 HD attraction, TV One’s Packed to the Rafters, averaged an above-average 4.9% – 8.8% on the back of The Food Truck’s 6.2% – 8.9%.

TV2’s 8.00 competition, Mike & Molly, rated 6.6% -10.3%.

Saturday’s free-to-air ratings were crushed by Sky’s live HD coverage of the third test between the All Blacks and France (8.12% – 12.3%) and Prime’s delayed SD feed (7.9% – 9.8%).

As a result, TV One’s repeat of Call the Midwife averaged only 0.9% – 1.7% and TV2’s network premiere of The Lincoln Lawyer 2.8% – 3.8%.

TV3’s CSI combo proved surprisingly resilient with household shoppers — Crime Scene Investigation averaged 7.1% and New York, 8.1% — but was down in the other key demos.

Earlier in the night, TV One’s Country Calendar averaged 7.0% – 10.4%, Coasters 4.6% – 7.1% and Dishing Up Australia With Al Brown, 3.9% – 5.1%.

Shortland Street (14.6% – 21.1%) and The Voice Australia (9.9% -12.6%) dominated Friday evening but TV3’s Kiwi comedies won the rest of the night on the back of The Graham Norton Show (7.4% – 9.9%).

On Thursday, Once Upon a Time (5.6% -9.8%) narrowly out-rated Bones (5.1% – 9.1%) for HD honours but the return of 20/20 hammered the 9.30 Bones re-run.

However, TV One’s Britcom line-up dominated the demos, although Coronation Street was no match for TV3’s Chelsea NZ’s Hottest Home Baker (6.0% – 9.4%).

Wednesday night belonged to TV2, with its HD comedy juggernauts and high-flying Arrow (8.7% – 13.5%).

  1. Hope TV3 will soon have Under the Dome on. In fact, Philip, have you heard anything? 🙂

  2. Bad news, I’m afraid, Trevor — Under the Dome comes under Prime’s CBS Television Studios deal, so it will screen here in SD.

  3. BOO HOO … that is bad news indeed, oh well a dome over Sky until they turn Prime into HD sounds good right now 🙂

  4. I was surprised by The A-Team, it was much better than the lame TV series and was shown in the correct aspect ratio.
