HDTV Heads-Up: October 13-19

TV2 wants its Revolution to rule.

The network is using the two-hour season finale of top-rating My Kitchen Rules to launch one of US TV’s hottest new hits on October 16 (both programmes will pre-empt The Mentalist and Body of Proof).

Twenty-four hours later, it will screen a second episode in the 9.30 Wednesday slot where Revolution is expected to air weekly.

The futuristic drama about surviving in a world without electricity already has been renewed for a second season only three weeks into its first.

The premiere was the highest-rating US TV drama premiere of the past three years and although ratings have slipped since, it has set time-shifting records for the NBC network and dominates its slot.

TV2 also is launching another HD fantasy, The Secret Circle, but this series about six teenage witches, which lasted only one season, will air off-peak — 2pm Sundays — from October 14.

Other HD highlights for the week starting October 13 include:

❑ The network HD premiere of the 1964 Walt Disney hit, Mary Poppins, on Saturday (TV2, 6.30) and a re-run of Meet the Fockers on Thursday (TV3, 8.30)

❑ The hour-long season finale of The Ridges on Wednesday (TV3, 7.30) — ahead of the night’s second season finale, Anger Management (TV3, 8.30)

❑ The resumption of season two re-runs of The Middle, starting from episode two, on Wednesday (TV2, 7.30).

  1. The Secret Circle sounds liked Charmed but not as popular, it seems 🙂

  2. I saw the pilot of Revolution last week. Looks interesting so I hope it’s not too long in coming.

  3. Seen the first three, ep one is the best, two and three start falling into hokum territory.
