HDTV Ratings: January 23-25

Wednesday’s HD premiere of TV3’s Kidnap and Ransom didn’t captivate enough viewers to out-rate the season finale of Falling Skies.

The sci-fi mini-series had the advantage of starting 45 minutes earlier and averaged 6.1% of 25-54 year-olds compared to K&R’s 4.6%.

There was a similar gap with 18-49 year-olds but it was smaller with TV2’s target audience, 18-39 year-olds: 4.8% vs 4.1%.

TV One’s Winners & Losers won the 8.30pm hour in all of the key demographics but, as with its HD lead-out, Harry’s Law, has yet to regain its pre-Christmas viewership.

On Tuesday, TV3’s HD premiere of Land of the Lost averaged 4.6% of 25-54s, 4.9% of 18-49s and 5.2% of 18-39s – which was substantially lower than the competition.

TV One’s HD line-up on Monday dominated with the network’s core audience, 25-54s, with Piha Rescue, Rapid Response and Criminal Minds largely winning their slots.

But in all the other key demos, TV2’s SD movie, The Time Traveller’s Wife, was the winner.

Episode two of TV One’s new crime drama, Person of Interest, retained most of the premiere’s viewership.

Its 25-54 rating slipped from 8.7% to 8.1%, its 18-49 rating from 7.3% to 6.6%, and its household shoppers with kids rating from 8.6% to 7.4%.

  1. I recorded the premiere of Kidnap and Ransom and watched it tonight. Very enjoyable and looking forward to seeing the final episode tomorrow. HD picture quality on the premier was excellent, particularly the African scenes.
