HDTV Ratings: March 27

TV One’s re-run of Nature’s Great Events in HD is proving as popular as Frozen Planet, out-rating not only lead-in MasterChef NZ but also HD rival Go Girls in key demographics.

Tuesday’s episode averaged 10.4% of TV One’s targeted 25-54 audience, to win the 8.30pm hour opposite Go Girls’ 10.2% and NCIS’ 8.5% on TV3.

It narrowly lost to Go Girls in the other demos and as well as being only 2.3 ratings points behind with household shoppers, was more popular with those viewers than MasterChef NZ (11.1% vs 10.0%).

Go Girls, meanwhile, was twice as popular as NCIS with HHS and 18-39 year-olds but its lead was cut to 2-3 points in the older demos.

Nonetheless, NCIS slipped several points in all the demos except HHS, where it was up slightly, to 6.9% (spin-off Los Angeles averaged 5.6%-7.9%, and with 25-54 won the 9.30 hour ).

NCIS suffered from ratings doldrums for its lead-ins, the season finale of The Secret Lives of Dancers and Missing Pieces, whereas Go Girls aired on the back of TV2’s top-rating HD comedy duo, The Middle and Suburgatory.

The Middle is TV2’s most popular Tuesday night drawcard after Shortland Street, averaging 17.9% of HHS, 14.6% of 18-39, 12.6% of 18-49 and 12.4% of 25-54 year-olds.
