HDTV Ratings: October 25

Airing season three of NCIS: Los Angeles barely a month after its US launch helped TV3 to win the 9.30pm hour with its target audience, 25-54 year-olds.

But TV2’s HD rival, The Celebrity Apprentice, outrated the season premiere in the other key demographics.

NCIS: Los Angeles

The final of The Amazing Race Australia delivered Apprentice a strong lead-in, but its 25-54 viewership nearly halved over the two hours, from 10.4% to 5.8%, (it averaged 7.8% versus NCIS: LA’s 8.6%).

There also was a sharp decline in the other demos, with 18-49 averaging 7.9% (vs NCIS: LA’s 6.3%), 18-39 8.7% (vs 5.7%), and household shoppers with kids 10.2% (vs 5.4%).

The original NCIS, at 8.30pm, opposite the end of Race and start of Apprentice, averaged 8.9% of 25-54s, 6.6% of 18-49s, 5.6% of 18-39s and 6.3% of HHS/kids.

In all of the demos except HHS/kids, NCIS’s audience built over the hour.
