My Sky + … Movies in October

October’s not such a win-win month for premium movie premieres on Sky.

Aside from the comedy/drama Win Win, and the latest Kung Panda and Paranormal Activity sequels, and even with The (original) Omen’s HD debut on Sky Movies Greats, October’s shaping up to be an ominous month indeed.

While schedulers are at the mercy of Hollywood’s cyclical product for the Sky Movies channel, it’s increasingly being filled with second-rate direct-to-disc and made-for-TV premieres like One Angry Juror, Deadliest Sea, Goodnight for Justice and Left in Darkness.

This trend of late usually has been leavened by ample A titles but October’s are limited to the aforementioned and perhaps Real Steel, The Three Musketeers and 30 Minutes or Less.

Even Sky Movies Greats is short on quality, with only two of its handful of premieres being of note: The Omen and The Da Vinci Code.
