HDTV Ratings: New Sci-Fi Show No Hospital Hit

Wednesday’s HD premiere of TV2 sci-fi newcomer FlashForward won its time slot but was no match for the return of Grey’s Anatomy the previous night.

It drew 11.2% of TV2’s target demo, 18-39 year-olds, to earn a 28.0% channel share, compared to TV3’s 10.0 rating/25.0 share for its HD opposition, Lie to Me.

Moreover, TV3’s SVU was a bigger drawcard than TV2’s premiere of the final season of Lost: the former scored a 10.3 rating/26.9 share in the 18-39 demo compared to the latter’s 8.5 rating/22.2 share.

It was a similar story in the 18-49 demo, which is TV3’s key viewership.

FlashForward’s narrow win may be attributable less to its competition and more to TV2’s decision to delay broadcasting it until now, when it was one of those initially hot-button shows that should have gone to air soon after its US launch in September.
