New Season: X Factor Gets NCIS Back on Track

Continuing high ratings for TV3’s The X Factor NZ helped the network’s Tuesday crime franchise to exert some muscle.

After last week’s shocking lows, both NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles notched up better numbers off the back of the time slot-winning talent quest.

As a result, both of TV2’s How to Get Away With Murder and Grey’s Anatomy slipped in popularity after last week’s top-rating premieres.

NCIS averaged 4.6% – 5.3% of the commercial demographics and was competitive with HTGAWM (5.3% – 8.9%) in the 18-39 and 18-49 demos.

But stablemate Los Angeles won every key demo except household shoppers with kids, averaging  2.9% – 3.7% against Grey’s Anatomy’s 2.1% – 4.2%.

TV1’s Person of Interest (2.0% – 6.1%) beat only NCIS among HHS while Fat Tony & Co (0.9% – 2.5%) couldn’t catch its competition.

TV1’s dramas weren’t helped by another low-rating night for Our First Home (3.2% – 6.8%): it was out-gunned by TV2’s reality shows and X Factor (7.8% – 11.3%), which won all the key demos.
