New to Amazon Prime Video in October

Amazon Prime Video will launch three newcomers this month: season three of The Man in the High Castle (from Friday), season one of The Romanoffs (from October 12) and season two of Lore (from October 19).

Castle continues with Juliana uncovering a dangerous Nazi plan for ultimate supremacy, Tagomi trying to broker peace amid the GNR taking retaliatory measures toward the JPS, and a haunted Kido’s search for old enemies.

“The detail in imagining New York City as a Nazi stronghold remains extraordinary, from the skyscrapers bearing the flag of the Third Reich down to the swastika ice sculpture dripping at a fancy party,” said the Boston Herald.

But according to TV Guide: “High Castle mostly slogs through a 10-episode third season without successfully fusing its best parts into a compelling whole.”

The Romanoffs is an eight-part global anthology series about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family.

Written by Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner, it stars Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Isabelle Huppert, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Jack Huston, Kathryn Hahn, Noah Wyle, Paul Reiser and Andrew Rannells.

Lore explores the real-life frightening and disturbing tales that give rise to modern-day myths and legends.

Season two, from showrunner Sean Crouch (The Exorcist, Numb3rs), features new tales from the award-winning podcast as well as original stories.

The six-episode hybrid will continue to complement filmed segments with narration, archive footage and animation.

Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the National Football League’s Thursday Night Football will continue with Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots (Friday), Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants (October 12), Denver Broncos vs Arizona Cardinals (October 19) and Miami Dolphins vs Houston Texans (October 26).
