New to Neon in February

New medical drama New Amsterdam and season two of parallel worlds thriller Counterpart are among the streaming highlights on Sky’s Neon in February.

New Amsterdam (weekly from February 9) stars The Blacklist’s Ryan Eggold as a maverick doctor who disrupts the status quo to resuscitate an ailing hospital that once was a health care leader.

It sounds trite but was favourably reviewed by top US critics, although Variety probably summed it up best: “Easy to dismiss at first glance, the series does exhibit some possibilities in its second episode, though it’s still a relatively uninspired time-killer for those of us with just one life to live.”

Counterpart (weekly from February 15) has just resumed in the US but won’t screen on SoHo or stream on Neon for another two months.

Counterpart has grown beyond its premise and is still one of the best shows on television,” TV Guide reckons.

But The Hollywood Reporter says the “early episodes don’t leap off the small screen like they did last year (which is understandable, having lost the element of uniqueness)”.

Also new to Neon will be conspiracy thriller White Dragon (weekly from February 7), Valor (from February 27), season two of I’m Sorry (from February 8), Living With Tourettes (from February 19), season two of Forensics NZ (from February 1) and seasons 1-7 of Once Upon a Time (from February 23).

New movies will include Isle of Dogs, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and Game Night.
