Prime Crime on SoHo

A TV adaptation of Get Shorty starring Ray Romano and a drama series about America’s crack epidemic will debut next month on SoHo, along with season five of Ray Donovan.

Get Shorty, in which a crime boss’ minder (Chris Down) joins forces with a washed up Hollywood producer (Romano) to make movies, will screen 9.30 Tuesdays from August 22.

Snowfall, which will screen 8.30 Sundays from August 6, is set against the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its radical impact on culture.

The story follows numerous characters on a violent collision course, including a young street entrepreneur on a quest for power, a Mexican wrestler caught up in the struggle within a crime family, a CIA operative running from a dark past who begins an off-book operation to fund the Nicaraguan Contras, and the self-possessed daughter of a Mexican crime lord.

Damson Idris (Babylon), Carter Hudson (The Night Of), Emily Rios (Breaking Bad) and Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Resident Evil: Afterlife) star.

The fifth season of Ray Donovan recruits Susan Sarandon as legendary media mogul who taps the services of Ray and sets him against her own fixers, fearing they may know too much.

Ray also has to protect a beautiful young star, or rather the interests of the multi-billion dollar movie franchise she is tied to, while his father, Mickey, swears he will finally mend his criminal ways.

Ray Donovan will screen 8.30 Tuesdays from August 8.

Also new next month on SoHo will be Berlin Station (8.30 Fridays from August 25) and Tour de Pharmacy (8.30 Tuesdays from August 1).

The former is a spy drama starring Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under), Rhys Ifans (Elementary), Michelle Forbes (The Killing), Leland Orser (Ray Donovan) and Keke Palmer (Masters of Sex).

The latter is a one-off comedy about the prevalence of doping in professional cycling starring Orlando Bloom and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg.
