Stupid Crazy US Election Usurps This Is Us

NBC’s pre-emption of This Is Us on November 8, which will be election day in the US, means TVNZ 2 will replace the episode that it would have aired a week later with the movie, Stupid Crazy Love.

This Is Us’ ratings have declined steeply since its September 27 premiere, when it averaged 6.3% of 25-54 year-olds, 5.5% of 18-49s and 5.7% of 18-39s.

I don’t have the ratings for last night’s episode but the previous week’s averaged only 3.8% of 25-54s, 3.1% of 18-49s and 3.5% of 18-39s.

Part of the problem was the appeal of TVNZ 1’s Sugar Free Farm, which averaged an impressive 5.2% of 25-54s for its season finale last week.

Both TVNZ series out-rated TV3’s NCIS: Los Angeles, which started belatedly because of an extra-long House Rules.

Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory’s switch from Monday nights to Thursdays on CBS  means TVNZ 2 will still be screening it within the same week as the US, but the gap will be five days instead of only two.
