SoHo Highlight: Boss (Sky 10, 9.30, 5.1) Kelsey Grammer won a Golden Globe for playing Chicago Mayor Tom Kane, recently diagnosed with a degenerative brain disorder that’s ripping everything away from him. He can’t trust his memory, his closest allies, or even himself. The Hollywood Reporter dubbed Boss “a wholly impressive new drama that comes out of the gate with gravitas, swagger, originality and intrigue” while the Wall Street Journal thought it “tightly written and intensely acted“. But the New York Times dubbed it “a smart look at political power brokers that gets silly on the subjects of sex and violence” while the Boston Herald predicted “it’s hard to imagine viewers voting with their clickers for this pretentious political soap“. But enough did to win Boss a second term. ✭✭✭✭
