Tonight in HD: July 15

Network Premiere: Get Him to the Greek  (TV3, 8.30, 5.1) Russell Brand’s rock star from Forgetting Sarah Marshall has an encore in this less memorable romp from that movie’s star and screenwriter, Jason Segel. Jonah Hill, who was the waiter in Marshall, plays a record industry flunky baby-sitting Brand’s fading celebrity en route from London to Los Angeles for a comeback concert. The first half is a funny riff on the music business but thereafter the humour resembles Hill’s suggestion for the title: Running and Screaming and Puking. (2010) ✭✭✭

Homeland (TV3, 10.30, 5.1, R) A Marine (Damian Lewis) rescued after years in Afghanistan returns home a hero. But a CIA operative (Claire Danes) suspects he may be an enemy agent. Hopefully, TV3’s decision to re-run this award-winner now instead of, say, long-overdue new episodes of The Good Wife, means it will screen season two soon after its US debut on September 30. Ironically, the opening episodes were shot in Israel, which produced the original series from which Homeland was adapted. ✭✭✭✭✭

Girl vs Boy (TV2, 5.00) It’s Maxine’s birthday, but it would be easy to think it wasn’t. Tim sinks further into depression, and Maxine’s camera is found. Could footage of the engagement party help solve the mystery? ✭✭✭

Pretty Little Liars (TV2, 5.30, 5.1) Jason drops off a bag of Alison’s personal items that could be more than just a bag of junk; Toby’s return to Rosewood brings a surprise reunion. ✭✭

The War at Home (TV2, 6.30, R)  Dave and Vicky decide to give Hillary the car she wants as long as she agrees to sign a contract, so they can completely control her life. ✭✭✭

Planet Dinosaur (TV One, 7.00) A look at the recently discovered heavyweights of the dinosaur world. For years, these giants were considered immune to attack from any predator – until the discovery of mapusaurus, a giant killer whose fate appeared to be linked to what sounds like the title for the next Roger Corman creature feature: argentinosaurus. ✭✭✭

The Big Bang Theory (TV2, 7.00, 5.1, R) Penny makes a surprising revelation about Leonard on her second date with Stuart; Wolowitz enlists his friends’ help when he discovers a design flaw in his NASA project. ✭✭✭✭

Golden (TV3, 7.00) Australian rowing coach, Genevieve Spink is in town promoting her new book, and ruffles a few feathers along the way, while Shelley considers confronting the paparazzi. ✭✭

Mike & Molly (TV2, 7.30, 5.1, F) Chaos ensues on Mike and Molly’s wedding day, as anything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Will they finally make their trip down the aisle and tie the knot? ✭✭

The Big Bang Theory (TV2, 8.00, 5.1, R, F) Leonard and Penny reconsider their feelings for one another, when Leonard and his friends decide to spend the summer working – at the North Pole. The good, if scarcely surprising news given how much TV2 milks this show, is tonight’s  “season finale” is only for this slot — TBBT re-runs will continue to air 7pm Sundays and 7.30pm Fridays while seasons one and two will bow next month on Blu-ray. ✭✭✭✭
