Tonight in HD: November 29

SoHo Highlight: Dexter (Sky 10, 8.30, 5.1) A serial killer from Dexter’s past resurfaces; Deb faces her first day as the homicide squad’s lieutenant; the police find another body on the shore; Masuka shows intern Ryan Chambers some evidence from the Ice Truck Killer case; Gellar and Marshal take a jogger prisoner. Three weeks in, and blog critics were divided about season six’s direction. “Good news from MiamiDexter is finally behaving like Dexter again,” reported Indiewire. “With its third episode this season, Smokey and the Bandit, the show has reclaimed some of its Gothic texture, with a literally darker image, while cordoning the ill-advised ‘zany’ humour to a single bit of golfing goofiness (don’t ask). And our favourite mordantly detached observer of human foibles is back, if not at full force, at least in three-quarter sail.” Agreed The AV Club: “For the first time this season, there was a killer-of-the-week that didn’t seem half-assed or like filler.” But TVology argued: “There’s great potential here, but the show is setting in all up in a manner that’s predictable, and if anything can kill a show for me, it’s when I can predict it.” ✭✭✭✭

NCIS (TV3, 8.30, 5.1)  The search for the Port-to-Port killer heats up because his latest victim has ties with NCIS. While this episode reveals the identity of the P2P Killer, don’t expect that to be the end of the case. Reckons Dameon’s TV: “With its Tarantino-esque treatment of time and the appearance of ghosts and rain, this episode definitely had the feel of an NCIS two-parter finale.” ✫✫

NCIS: Los Angeles (TV3, 9.25, 5.1) A former Navy intelligence officer is murdered, and the agents discover his double life and a possible threat to national security. ✫✫
