TV2 Declassifies X-Files Premiere

TV2 will premiere The X-Files as a movie-length special on January 28, the same week as in the US.

TV2 had earmarked the slot for hit FBI drama Quantico but that was before completing the Fox deal for X-Files, The Simpsons and Family Guy.

It now looks as if Quanitco’s debut will be delayed six weeks, with the network likely to team The X-Files, which is being unleashed globally, with the return of Arrow in February (it resumes in the US on January 20.)

Like TV3, TV2 seems to be rolling out its new season more slowly than previously, possibly due to so many of its new and returning series being dependent on when they go to air in the US.

It does resume The Middle, with the premiere of season seven on January 25, but new episodes of The Big Bang Theory, Mom and 2 Broke Girls won’t surface until the first week in February.

Movies still dominate TV2’s schedule in the last week of January, including the network premieres of Frozen on January 24 and Premium Rush on January 29.

Other coming attractions in HD for that week include:

  • The Witches (7.00 January 23)
  • The Spectacular Now (11.20 January 23)
  • Any Questions For Ben? (1.15am January 24)
  • The Cabin in the Woods (11.05 January 24)
  • Magic Mike (8.30 January 23)
  • Step Brothers (8.30 January 27).

  1. Hey, Phil. Has TV2 a time slot for Quantico?

  2. It was going to be 8.30 Thursday and I expect it will go into that slot post-The X Files. Another possibility is 9.30 Wednesday but such has been Quanitco’s popularity in the US that I think TV2 will want to reserve it for 8.30. It’s also possible TV2 will launch X-Files at 8.30, then switch the series to 9.30 with Quantico as a lead-in and move Arrow from 9.30 Thursday to 9.30 Wednesday. The programming permutations are many.
