White House Down, TVNZ 2 Up

TVNZ 2’s replacement of 24: Legacy and Lethal Weapon with action movie re-runs has quadrupled its core Tuesday night viewership.

Last night’s White House Down averaged 5.1% of the channel’s key demographic, 18-49 year olds, 6.0% of 25-54 year olds and 4.4% of 18-39 year olds.

The first hour lost to Three’s Married at First Sight — 6.8% of 18-49s, 7.2% of 25-54s, 6.0% of 18-39s — but the second half won the 9.30 hour.

It retained most of the viewership of lead-in My Kitchen Rules, which averaged 6.0% – 6.6% of these demos, and helped TVNZ 2 to win the night in each.

Ironically, 24: Legacy is rating better late-night Sundays than it did most recently in primetime and is growing its following, with this weekend’s episode averaging 2.5% – 2.9% of the key age demos and 4.4% of household shoppers with kids.

Last night was a tight race between TVNZ 2 and Three in the 18-49 and 25-54 contests but the former was comfortably ahead with 18-39s.

TVNZ 1 distantly trailed both of its rivals but would have been heartened by its Seven Sharp besting Three’s The Project in all the core demos at 7.00 after Monday’s massacre.

However, The Secret Life of 5 Years Olds averaged only 2.3% of 25-54s and lead-out Why Are We Getting So Fat? a puny 0.9%.
