3DTV: What’s New to View

Trusted Reviews has published an insight into how Sky TV in the UK plans to launch 3D broadcasts using the satcaster’s HD set-top box — and may not even charge its top-tier HD customers extra to receive them.

It will be able to do this by carrying the 3D signals within a single HD- bandwidth channel.

Elsewhere, Smarthouse offers a First Look at Samsung’s 3DTV prospects, and points out the Korean giant isn’t forgetting about plasma in its aggressive LED-LCD roll-out, while CNET reports the first signs of its 3DTVs in the US marketplace.

Reuters examines Samsung’s 3D sales targets while the Los Angeles Times analyses retailer and consumer interest in the new technology.

Meanwhile, US sister sites Home Theatre mag and Ultimate AV have separately covered Panasonic’s US product launch, and even though there wasn’t a 3D demo in sight, both came away impressed with what they saw — as did AVReview with its coverage of Panasonic’s British launch.
