HDTV Heads-Up: Lie to Me, Street Kings, Juno

Would I lie to you? TV3 will resume season two of Lie to Me from episode 11 on August 4.

The HD drama about a body language sleuth (Tim Roth) was one of the network’s most popular shows this year before its Wednesday night run was interrupted for Underbelly: The Golden Mile.

Its return will coincide with the season finale airing in the US, where the third season will begin in November.

Expect the hero to have even more of a rogue element in the next series — and possibly face off against a villain with similar skills.

TV3 also will debut two movies in HD that week: Street Kings on August 2; and Juno on August 6.

Meanwhile, last Saturday’s HD movie double-up on TV One and TV2  doesn’t signal the start of more movies in 720p on either network.

TV2 aired Cars at 7.30pm and TV One Layer Cake at 8.30pm. Because of digital infrastructural issues, TV2 has limited its HD transmissions to drama series while only a handful of movies, like tonight’s Bloodlines, has played in HD on TV One, a strategy that looks set to continue in the short term.
