Acorn TV Promises a Blanc Christmas

A Christmas edition of The Madame Blanc Mysteries will double as a preview of the cosy whodunit’s second season, which is due to launch next year.

Created by and starring Sally Lindsay (Mount Pleasant, Cold Call), the Acorn TV Original series follows renowned antiques dealer Jean White, whose expertise of priceless objects proves the key to help local police investigate and solve a series of murders and mysteries against the backdrop of her new home – the beautiful French village of Saint Victoire.

The holiday-themed special will stream from December 26. Reads the blurb:

‘Tis the season for a festive story of murder, mystery and suspense wrapped up in a Christmas twist … Fresh from surviving an attempt on her life and helping identify the murder of her late husband, Jean is eagerly looking forward to the twinkling lights and singing choirs of Christmas in Saint Victoire with her new friends. However Jean comes to the aid of Chief of Police, Andre Caron (Alex Gaumond, The Syndicate), who finds himself on the other side of the interview table as he is accused of murdering his wife. Caron begs Jean to clear his name and she is quickly pulled into the world of international art dealing, where all is not what it seems. Can Jean save Caron and bring the real murderer to justice?

The Madame Blanc Mysteries co-stars series co-writer Sue Vincent (Mount Pleasant, Shameless) as Jean’s friend Gloria, Steve Edge (Cruella) as Jean’s close friend and local cabbie Dom, Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses) as flirtatious local gossip Judith, and Robin Askwith (Confessions) as Jeremy, Judith’s adoring husband.

Tony Robinson (Time Team, Blackadder) guest stars as Dom’s Uncle Patrick in the holiday special.

It will stream on Acorn TV and AMC+. Here’s the trailer:
