After the Party the Morning After

Sunday’s premiere of TVNZ 1’s acclaimed NZ drama series After the Party drew four times more 25-54 year-olds than its lead-out, the season two launch of high-profile BBC period drama World on Fire.

Competition was soft on TVNZ 2 and Three, and the Robyn Malcolm drama drew 40,000 fewer adults in this coveted demographic than lead-in Sunday.

But it was still a solid start, with 57,545 viewers earning it a 2.80 rating/20.78 share.

The last drama series premiere to screen in the slot, Malpractice, on October 15, averaged just 38,208 viewers (1.86 rating/13.48 share).

And After the Party was on a par with the season final of George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations two weeks earlier.

World on Fire averaged 13,093 viewers to deliver a 0.64 rating/8.03 share.

Three’s 90-minute My Dad Your Mum premiere attracted 25,385 viewers (1.24 rating/6.77 share) and lead-out Married at First Sight UK 17,163 (0.84 rating/8.33 share).

TVNZ 2’s bargain bin re-run of the original Karate Kid drew 48,244 Viewers (2.35 rating/14.76 share).

It was no match for TVNZ 1’s Hyundai Country Calendar (128,200 viewers, 6.25 rating/34.44 share) and Sunday (128,200 viewers, 6.25 rating/34.44 share).

TVNZ 1’s peak demo share was 32.41, TVNZ 2’s 13.43 and Three’s 13.37.
