Agent Carter Gets Reassigned

The first casualty of TV2’s new season, Agent Carter, has been pulled from its 9.30 Wednesday slot.

The good news for fans of the short-run Agents of SHIELD spin-off is it will continue to screen Wednesdays, but an hour later at 10.30 instead of double-episode re-runs of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

TV2 announced the decision yesterday after this week’s ratings revealed that even in TV2’s target demographic, 18-39 year-olds, Agent Carter was being beaten by the umpteenth broadcast of another superhero franchise, Fantastic Four.

The network is replacing Agent Carter with an Alan Carr special this week and on March 11 will launch World’s Worst,  a reality series about people who have cheated death (typical of the survivors it celebrates are the premiere’s skydivers whose plane collides in mid-air and a trapped caver).

Wednesdays at 9.30 have proved problematic for all of the HD networks, with viewers quick to check out of TV1’s Hotel of Mum and Dad and TV3 quitting Age Gap Love mid-run.

Agent Carter’s launch coincided with TV2 overhauling its hitherto top-rating Wednesday comedy block with new shows that have yet to catch on.

    No surprise about Agent Carter, it really isn’t that good, not compelling viewing.

    I was starting to get used to it. Like the 1940s sets. Typical NZ TV, though, unless it rates number 1 then it’s replaced with dross or repeats.
