Amazon Prime Video Reaches for Next Crime Hit

Amazon Prime Video subscribers longing for the next hard-boiled drama series now that Bosch has ended its seven-season run can look forward to the premiere of Reacher on February 4.

All eight episodes of the Lee Rich adaptation will land at once, with Alan Ritchson in the titular role.

He plays Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life as a drifter with the barest of essentials. Reads the blurb:

When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with. One thing above all is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

Season one of Reacher is based on the first Jack Reacher novel Killing Floor, and was scripted by Emmy-nominee Nick Santora (Scorpion, Prison Break), who also executive produces and is showrunner as part of his overall deal with Skydance Television.

The rest of the cast includes Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie), Willa Fitzgerald (The Goldfinch), Chris Webster (Most Dangerous Game), Hugh Thompson (Blessed Stranger: After Flight 111), Maria Sten (Swamp Thing), Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Kristin Kreuk (Smallville), Currie Graham (Murder in the First), Marc Bendavid (Dark Matter), Willie C. Carpenter (Devious Maids), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Bruce McGill (My Cousin Vinny).

APV’s also released the first teaser trailer for S4 of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which will stream in weekly double-episodes from February 18. Reads the blurb:

It’s 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft—and the places it takes her—creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her. The edgy, uncompromising, and hilarious new season includes guest appearances from Kelly Bishop, Milo Ventimiglia, John Waters, and Jason Alexander.
