Here’s the media release:
TVNZ announces Cate Slater as Chief Transformation Officer
TVNZ has appointed Cate Slater to the newly created role of Chief Transformation Officer. This executive position will lead TVNZ’s transition from a broadcast-based business to a digital-first media organisation.
Cate has been part of Te Reo Tātaki for over 10 years, working in the Legal & Corporate Affairs team and as GM Content Rights, before moving into her current role as Director of Content. Her in-depth understanding of TVNZ’s content and audience proposition will help inform this significant strategic shift.
Nevak Rogers (Rongowhakaata / Tongan) will step into Cate’s role as Acting Director of Content. Nevak has led TVNZ’s local content team for four years. She has a wealth of experience within New Zealand’s media and production sector, including overseeing commissioning, acquisitions, programming and internal production at Whakaata Māori prior to joining TVNZ.
TVNZ’s Chief Executive, Simon Power, says, “TVNZ is embarking on a multi-year programme to evolve the business so it’s better able to meet the realities and expectations of modern audiences. This new role is critical to the success of our digital transformation, and Cate’s experience and expertise make her the perfect person for the job.
“I’m also pleased to welcome Nevak Rogers to TVNZ’s Executive team. Nevak’s experience speaks for itself. She will continue to champion local programming while providing continuity of leadership for our Content team.”
Meanwhile, TVNZ’s Legal and Corporate Affairs Director Brent McAnulty will become Acting Chief Executive Officer on July 1 following Power’s departure.
