An Almighty $6.9 Million for Johnsons II
NZ On Air has approved funding of $6.9 million for series two of TV3’s HD hit, The Almighty Johnsons.
Thirteen more episodes of the ‘go gods’ comedy/drama have been commissioned from South Pacific Pictures for screening next year.
The first series, which averaged a 9.8 rating and 25.7% share in TV3’s target 25-54 demographic, had only a 10-week run.
Meanwhile, next month Roadshow Entertainment will release a DVD of “the story behind New Zealand’s most successful drama series”, Outrageous Fortune, which came from the same creative stable as The Almighty Johnsons.
Outrageous Fortune: Revealed is described as a “special edition souvenir DVD” with new interviews with the creators, producers and directors as well as star Robyn Malcolm, who discusses how she became matriarch Cheryl West.
It also includes “special moments” from the six seasons, behind-the-scenes footage and the construction of the Outrageous Fortune exhibition.
The single-disc release goes on sale on July 6 for $20.

Don’t you love it in NZ that the taxpayer shells out for these programmes and the networks make the money through advertising and none of it goes back to the taxpayer …
