Another Comments Update

Just to let everyone know that the first phase of ScreenScribe.tv’s overhaul is complete but the comments section is still cursed.

My webmaster has transferred the site to a new host to pave the way for a fresh new look in the new year.

The transition has meant fewer postings and a backlog of catch-ups still to come but these should be up by new year.

Unfortunately, the code error messages in the comments section is taking longer to fix than anticipated but hopefully a solution is in sight.

In the meantime, here’s what’s been received since my last update:

From Leo re  HD Ratings: F&F Brings Down The House: I still can’t read the comments. Any idea when it will be fixed? Also Happy Holidays to you Philip and all the readers.

Thanks, Leo. Season’s greeting to you and everyone else, too. As outlined above, a comments fix is in the works. It’s just a matter of eliminating the potential gremlins causing the coding jinx.

From Trevor re  New to TVNZ OnDemand in January: Sorry, off topic but good news for Supernatural fans as seasons 1-14 are now on Amazon Prime Video YIPPEE 🙂

Cheers, Trevor. You’re never off topic and the nuggets you bring to light are appreciated. Amazon Prime Video is a queer beast with an eclectic library that ranges from the outstanding to the obscurely bizarre. Hopefully the Supernatural addition bodes well for 2020 marking a big leap forward in back catalogue content.

From Aiden re  HD Heads-Up: December 28 – January 3: Hi Phil, do you know if/when Three will be showing Survivor again? Seems like ages since the original (and best) appeared on our screens. Thanks, Aiden.

There’s good news (of sorts) for Survivor fans, Aiden. Season 37, Survivor: David vs Goliath, will premiere on January 18. Three has shifted it out of primetime to an afternoon slot, where it will screen in weekly one-hour instalments. This is the season that CBS aired in 2018 from October-December. As you’ll no doubt know, S39 has just ended in the US and S40 premieres in February. While the show’s primetime appeal has been succeeded here by the NZ and Australian spin-offs, it’s a shame Three is falling so far behind with broadcasts of the original.

From Trevor re  HD Heads-Up: January 4 – 10: Hi Philip, just want to say it’s wonderful having ScreenScribe back to normal, also hope you had a wonderful Christmas 🙂

Thanks, Trevor. It’s contributions like yours that everyone is missing with the comments section out of commission. Hopefully everything — not just the postings — soon will be not only back to normal but also better than ever!

From Paul W re Network HD Movie Highlights: December 21 – 27: Moana (TVNZ 2, 6.30) Christmas Day — Bet it’s loaded with station promos every 10 minutes. No such thing as a commercial-free day here.

Quite agree, Paul. You’d think at this time of the year at least we could be treated to genuine uninterrupted viewing on FTA channels rather than still having to suffer an onslaught of crass self-promotion.

From Paul W re Hot Off the Press Releases: Spark Sells Lightbox to Sky: Not really something I’m going to miss. The only programme I watched on Lightbox in recent years is The Handmaid’s Tale.”

From Clint re Hot Off the Press Releases: Spark Sells Lightbox to Sky: A bit like Paul W, I turned my Lightbox account on and off depending on when The Handmaid’s Tale and Better Call Saul were in season or not. If they move to Neon, or whatever the new service is called, then it’ll be a boost. I suppose Sky might end up getting the likes of the above shows to use on SoHo and Box Sets potentially too under the arrangement.

From Brian re Hot Off the Press Releases: Spark Sells Lightbox to Sky: I hope this means an Apple TV app pretty soon for Neon … Or roll that into Lightbox’s already working one.

From Aaron re Hot Off the Press Releases: Spark Sells Lightbox to Sky: I’ve got it free until the end of January and was going to cancel when I had to start paying anyway. I only watch Handmaid’s Tale, Outlander and Vikings on Lightbox. Hopefully they use the Lightbox platform as it’s way better than Neon’s.

  1. Webmaster here, let’s see if we’re back in 2019 again, testing comments now…

  2. Looks like the temporary patch has worked, but I’ll be steering clear of mobs with pitchforks for a little while longer to be sure.

  3. I now have a new business that I run through Facebook. I give people the chance to in what they can watch more of and also give me feed back on what TVNZ can do more for them in the hot new 2020 season for good entertainment.

Great to have your site back and the comments working Phil! What’s your Facebook page Patrick?

  5. Hi Phil and Phil’s Admin, We Kiwis don’t have pitchforks … the most you’ll get is us angrily throwing a steak and cheese pie … but be very afraid if it has ketchup on top … then you’ll know we are serious …! 🙂 😉
