Another Night to Remember for Wellywood?
Local interest in this year’s Oscars telecast should be unusually high — and not just because next month’s ceremony will be broadcast here in HD for the first time.
The number of Kiwis who have been nominated — nine — is the most since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won best picture and 10 other trophies in 2004.
It’s also being reported that the mix of nominations could make for a “suspenseful — and could it be? — audience-friendly and ratings-grabbing Oscar telecast”.
Sky Movies will screen the ceremony live from 2.30pm on March 8.
