Apple TV+ Slices Subscription Fee

Apple TV+ is almost quartering its monthly subscription fee to tempt newcomers sign on for at least months.

Today it announced the fee would drop from $14.99 a month to $3.99 for new and “qualified” returning subscribers. Here’s the fine print:

Offer expires on 24 April, 2025. Offer for eligible new and qualified returning subscribers redeeming on eligible Apple devices or where a subscription to Apple TV+ is billed directly through Apple. Offer not available if (i) you are eligible for a three months free Apple TV+ offer or (ii) your subscription to Apple TV+ is billed through a third party or your mobile wireless provider. Other new subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial. Plan automatically renews at your region’s monthly price (NZ$14.99/month) after offer period until cancelled. Terms apply.

Apple TV+ has one of the best streaming slates in NZ but its library of originals is dwarfed but Netflix and Prime Video’s.

The offers follows the launch of acclaimed insider Hollywood comedy The Studio and coincides with the arrival of new Jon Hamm drama, Your Friends and Neighbours, in which the Mad Man star plays asked hedge fund manager who starts stealing from his close contemporaries.

Predicted trade paper The Wrap: “Your Friends and Neighbours looks like a return to the heyday of television antiheroes – Tony Soprano, Walter White and now Andrew Cooper.”
