Apple TV’s Monsters Rise Up for S2

Apple TV’s Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will continue when season two premieres on February 27.

Legendary’s Monsterverse is an expansive cross-platform story universe centring around humanity’s battle to survive in a world facing a catastrophic new reality: the monsters of our myths and legends are real.

It began with 2014’s Godzilla, continued with Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, with the next sequel, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, due to release in 2027.

S1 of Monarch tracked two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the titular secret organisation — a quest that led them into the world of monsters and down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell in different eras: the 1950s and half-a-century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows).

The 10-part S2 picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. Reads the blurb:

The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.
