Best Blu-ray Buys: Paramount and Universal in September

Next month Universal and Paramount will discount a range of Blu-ray action titles to tie in with the theatrical release of The Expendables.

Directed by Sylvester Stallone, it reunites the Rambo hero with ’80s beefcake icons Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dolph Lundgren, and teams them with Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Steve Austin and Randy Couture.

It opens here on September 2, the day after each of the first three Rambo movies will be repriced at $20, along with Statham’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Li’s Fearless and Lundgren’s Universal Soldier.

Schwarzenegger’s Red Heat, Red Sonja and Raw Deal will sell for $15 each, as will Coutoure’s Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior, Willis’ 12 Monkeys and Rourke’s Angel Heart.

The Expendables Blu-ray promotion will run until October 13.
